The spring is soon upon us in Edmonton. Even though we’re still in the thick of winter, REALTORS® in Edmonton will tell you it is a good idea to start planning and preparing your home for sale. Here are a few important things you can do to get your home ready.
Tidy up any clutter
With COVID-19 still hanging around, many people will be viewing homes online via photography or video, so it is a good idea to make your home look as clean and open as possible.
Make sure you clean up any clutter throughout your home, and limit personal items placed throughout. This means removing excess items from shelves, book cases, coffee tables, etc. You may also want to remove a few items of furniture to make your space look more open.
If you have a lot of pictures or artwork on your walls, try spacing them out so that the person viewing the home can see how much wall space the home includes.
Give it a good ol’ Spring Cleaning
It may be a little early for most people to begin their spring cleaning, but if you’re trying to sell your home, then this is the time to do it.
Make sure you dust all surfaces in your home, especially the hard to reach places: on top of the kitchen cabinets, ceiling fans, etc.
Wash all of the windows in your home inside and out, and wash all of the walls. Don’t forget to vacuum and wash all of the flooring! During the winter people tend to drag a lot of mud into the home. It can get into all kinds of places, so you’ll want to make sure your home is as clean as possible for potential viewers and photography.
Don’t forget to give all of the bathrooms in the house a very thorough cleaning, as they are one of the most important rooms in the house.
Exterior Cleaning Tips from REALTORS® in Edmonton!
Now that you’ve tackled the inside of your home, it’s time to really get your hands dirty… literally. The winter can really wreak havoc on the exterior of your home, and given that it is the first thing people see when they arrive at your property, you’ll want it looking its best.
Once the snow is gone for good, give the exterior finish of your home a thorough cleaning by power-washing the siding, windows, doors, and outdoor patios. After you’re done that make sure to sweep the walkways and driveways of any debris.
Make sure to spruce up your yard by raking leaves, planting some flowers or plants, and adding some lawn decorations. Make sure when you’re doing this you don’t overdo it, as you don’t want to make your yard look cluttered.
